Booking & the GoAhead

The essentials on reserving, paying and travelling with Sawa.

How you're protected

It's the moment a departure becomes real. Every Sawa trip needs a minimum number of travelers — usually four — committed to the same date. When that number is reached, the date locks, everyone is charged, and the tour is confirmed to run. We mark it with a gold dot.

Only at GoAhead. Reserving a seat is free; we may place a temporary authorisation hold to verify your card, but no money moves until the group confirms. Until then you can cancel with one click.

Yes. Every tour page has a "start your own date" option — pick the day that suits you and it becomes a departure other travelers can join. Our team gives each new date a quick review before it appears on the board, and as always, nothing is charged unless the group reaches its GoAhead.

The departure auto-cancels at its deadline and you pay nothing. Any hold is released in full by your bank, and we'll suggest similar dates that are closer to confirming.

Yes, subject to the operator's cancellation policy, which is shown on every departure before you reserve. Most offer a full refund up to a set number of days before departure.

An operator registered with the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism & Antiquities and verified by Sawa — never a freelancer or an unregistered guide. You'll see their name, licence status and rating on every departure. Sawa coordinates the group and your payment; the operator delivers the experience.

A Sawa departure only runs as a real group with a local guide, so you're never setting out alone. Every operator holds a Ministry of Tourism & Antiquities licence and insurance, you get the full itinerary up front, and a 24/7 support line throughout.

Absolutely. You can reserve multiple seats in one booking — and your travelers count toward the group's GoAhead, so bringing someone helps confirm the date faster.

It varies by tour, but each departure lists exactly what's included and excluded before you book — guiding, entries, accommodation and meals where applicable. Flights and visas are usually separate.

For operators

Nothing. Joining, verification, listing departures and the widget are all free. Sawa only takes a commission on seats that are part of a confirmed, running departure.

Yes. You run the tour under your own name and deliver the experience. Sawa handles matching, payments and the GoAhead confirmation in the background.

Your travelers join the same date as travelers from other operators and from Sawa's open board. Once the combined group hits the minimum, the date confirms and you receive the full manifest.

After each GoAhead. Funds for confirmed travelers are paid out to your account on your plan's payout schedule, minus Sawa's commission.

Most operators are reviewed within 2–4 business days once we have your Ministry of Tourism & Antiquities licence and proof of insurance.

Copy one snippet into any page of your site and set your operator ID. It renders instantly and can be styled to your brand — full guide on the widget page.
